Meet Howard
Most recently, I served as a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI, where I led an engineering team that innovated the core experiences and architectures for the ChatGPT Web, iOS, and Android clients. Currently, I serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at NSTMF, an organization dedicated to supporting underrepresented scholars in STEM and honoring top innovators across the United States with the presidential National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
Over my career, I have held leadership roles at companies like Netflix, Goldman Sachs, and Google, where I transformed products and guided teams to drive business priorities. Additionally, I co-founded Onramp, an Ed-tech startup, successfully raising ~$2M in seed funding to develop tools that empower educators and learners.
I started Apex Leadership Lab because I believe engineering leadership is about more than technical expertise—it's about empowering others, creating environments where innovation thrives, and building diverse teams that reflect the world we serve.
